## **Encouragement for Your Fast**

Though the plan is to send occasional emails and not daily ones, I felt led to send this note to you in hopes that it would continue to help you engage during your fast.

If you are fasting from any means of food and meals, you are probably starting to feel weariness, pain, lack of energy and motivation. **You feel weak** and weakness is not an enjoyable feeling to experience while you still have to go to work, raise your kids, serve others, go to school, etc. What I want to encourage you with is **what to do with that weakness**, because it will make all the difference during this fast.

There are two responses to the weakness you will feel: one is to try to **muscle through it** in your own power and strength. Just try harder, make yourself busier, distract yourself, etc. The other is to **embrace your weakness** and yield to God's humbling work in your life. To let it bring you to your knees in dependence. **God tells us that His power works best in weakness** (2 Corinthians 12:9). This is the upside-down nature of the Kingdom. You don't get more power by being strong. You get more power by embracing your lack of strength. This is what is so unique about fasting. It exposes our true neediness so we turn to God. Don't resist your weakness. Let God do His good work through it.
Love you!
Embracing weakness alongside you,
*- Pastor Christopher*

## **Help with Your Fast**

I know the act and mechanics of fasting can be hard to figure out. What meals do I skip? What do I do when I feel lightheaded? Can I eat this during dinner? What do I do when I am so tired? How do you do this when you have kids? I have received questions like these from others and I want to make myself available to you if you need some encouragement, guidance, etc. If I can be of any service to you as you engage in this fast, please don't hesitate to send me any question you have.
